Happy Birthday!

Today is my oldest's birthday.  He is 17.  So many thoughts run through my mind today.  I don't feel old enough to have a child that is almost an adult.  Where have 17 years gone?!  Just yesterday he was toddling and playing with his dinosaurs and dump trucks.   Today, he is several inches taller than me, talking of going away to college next year, with big dreams for his future.  If I think too long, I cry.

Happy birthday, Ryan!

Good Monday morning!

Well, I should say afternoon since it is 12:35 here.  It's a lovely day in E. Tn, 64 and sunny.  I have my windows open for some fresh air.   I haven't gotten a lot accomplished so far today.  I've been busy making this ---

I guess it's time I sit down and actually work.   I'd so much rather be making things though!

The Introduction

So, I've decided to start a blog. I never thought there would be a time when I couldn't think of something to say, but here I am. I suppose an introduction would be appropriate.

My name is Tabitha. I was named after a lady in the Bible. My mother would always get very upset when someone thought she got my name from the TV show, Bewitched. I was born and named a few years before the show aired. I've been called Samantha more times than I can count. lol

I am the oldest of 3 children, born and raised in a very rural Appalachian area of E. Tenn. My mother's side is from KY, my father's from TN. He always said he had to go across the state line to find a good woman. My country roots run deep. There is some Native American in my blood. I'm in the process of trying to do genealogy and figure all that out. My paternal grandmother is a quilt maker. My maternal grandfather was a coal miner in the deep mines of KY. He was also a beekeeper. My paternal grandfather was a Jack of all trades, but drove a coal truck off the mountains of our area in his latter years. He was also a WWII vet, serving in the Philippines. My maternal grandmother was a sweet lady. She'd cook dinners every Sunday and all the family would stop by to eat. She had the best fried chicken ever. I miss her dinners.

I am married (will be 20 years in August), mother of 3, one of which will be 17 in 3 days. Talk about depressing. I am a medical transcriptionist by trade. I work at home most days and at a local clinic 2 days a week. I am going back to school for HIT/HIM.

I also started designing jewelry in January 2010. I've always wanted to try my hand at it and so in December, while at Micheal's buying a kit for my niece for Christmas, I bought myself 3!! I've been hooked ever since. It's relaxing to me, and a good way to burn off the creative energy that fills my mind sometimes. There are days where I think my head would explode if I didn't do something.

I love to cook. I will often get in my kitchen and do what I call "marathon cooking." I just go crazy and make different things. I've even created my own recipes before. You should see my collection of recipe books.

I love photography. I've always wanted to take classes, but I can't seem to find the time. My husband bought me a very nice camera a few years ago for Christmas. I play around with it from time to time. I really have no idea what I'm doing, but occasionally, I will get an amazing picture.

I love music, all kinds. My favorite is late 60s, the Vietnam era. My dad was a Vietnam vet and would play his LPs for me as a child. I feel closer to him when I listen to that genre.

That's a little bit about me.
